2 businesses, 2 kids, 1 crazy household
👋
I wanted to give an update on where I’ve been and what I’ve been up to the last few weeks.
After 10 years of pledging to never work together, I joined FutureGov for a few weeks to help their clients respond to COVID-19. FutureGov works with local and national governments and a critical piece of the local response to coronavirus is how the non-profit/voluntary/charity sector are partnering to support the most vulnerable residents.
I’m still running Ada’s List — it’s just that, for now, my attention is more on helping Camden and Hackney’s response. The Ada’s List community is still incredibly active, supportive, and being their for one another every darn day. Our COVID-19 ask/offer marketplace is going strong. We’ve made it easier to post jobs and are working on more benefits to our members in the coming days/weeks.
I believe that Ada’s List and communities like it have a crucial role to play in rebuilding the economy post COVID-19 and I’ll be laser focused on that next.
The kids are great and the house will never be the same — it’s been absolutely destroyed by their chaos (I know we’re not alone in this!). While both Dom and I are working on the response, we’re considered essential workers and the kids are still going to school (which, for the record, isn’t school, it’s just at school. and we are very, incredibly lucky to have access to this, as we’re currently working 5am-9pm most days.). We’re so lucky to have access to this, but also I know it’s weird for them that they aren’t with any of their friends in school, the world is upside down, and they need as many hugs as possible.

We celebrated Hop’s 5th birthday via zoom and are set to celebrate Dakota’s on Wednesday the 8th (official) and this weekend (zoom parties! we haven’t sent an invite yet — let us know if you want in!).
We are healthy, today. We hope that everyone emerges from this healthy; that our governments recognize now is the time step up and support those that need it the most, knowing that people need government more than ever; and that our friends and family stay healthy and keep in touch throughout this.
